Tsurudomari StationClassic wooden station building

The village name Tsurudomari consist of two words “Tsuru(Crane)” and “Domari(to stay)” According to Tsuruta local history, it is believed that this area had many swamps and was a winter-feeding site for many red-crowned crane.

Line that follows from Tsurudomari Station

Tsurudomari Station is a train station on JR Gono Line, operated by JR East, which only handles Jobiken (pre-printed ticket) sales. It is an above-ground station with a single platform and a single track. Passengers are required to alight and board from the front entrance when it’s a one-man operated train.


Classic wooden station buildingThe station building is a renovated classic wooden building which was originally built in November 1927. Average daily number of passengers of Tsurudomari station is 46 (2011).
*Resort Shirakami, limited-stop rapid service train, does not stop at Tsurudomari Station.
