Fireworks / Ryujinsen paradeSpectacular fireworks and Ryujinsen over Fujimi Lake

Fireworks at Tsugaru Fujimi Lake is one of the main events of the annual Tsuruta Festival (Celebration of Water and Fire) which is held in mid-August. Approximately 2,500 Shakudama (12” round) and Starmine fireworks light up the night sky.

According to the tragic love legend of Fujimi Lake, Princess Shirakami loved the lord of Shimizu Castle, but he did not love her back. She was so devastated that she threw herself in the lake. Her grudge against the lord turned her into the white dragon. Ryujinsen, the Dragon ship represents Princess Shirakami’s heartbroken soul drifting over the lake.

Enjoy breathtaking view of fireworks coloring the sky and shadowing Tsuru no Mai Bridge onto the lake as 30-meter-long (approx. 98 ft) lit Ryujinsen drifts over the lake.
